FOUR 18TH CENTURY MASSACHUSETTS PAMPHLETS, ONE PERTAINING TO THE BOSTON MASSACRE 1738-1796
1) Titled on wraps "An Oration Delivered April 2d 1771". Fully titled "An Oration Delivered April 2d 1771. At the Request of the Inhabitants of the Town of Boston; to Commemorate the bloody Tragedy of the Fifth of March, 1770. By James Lovell, A.M." (Boston: Edes and Gill, by Order of the Town of Boston, 1771.) Possibly the first oration on the Boston Massacre. Signed on title page "Wm Greenough 1771". Unusually sized at 8.75" x 7" and with rounded corners.
2) Titled on wraps "Mr. Hubbard's Sermon, on the Death of the Hon. Azor Orne, Esq." Fully titled "A Sermon, Preached to the First Congregational Society in Marblehead, on Lord's Day, June 12, 1796. Occasioned by the Death of the Hon. Azor Orne, Esq. Who Departed this Life, at Boston, June 6, 1796, in the Sixty-Fifth Year of His age: And Whose Remains Were Interred at Marblehead on the Thursday Following. By Ebenezer Hubbard, A.M. Pastor of the First Congregational Church and Society in Marblehead." (Salem: Thomas C. Cushing, 1796.) Azor Orne, a leading merchant in Marblehead, served in the Massachusetts legislation, was a Colonel in the militia, and was chosen as an Elector in 1792. This is believed to be the only printed work of preacher Ebenezer Hubbard.
3) "An Appeal to the Impartial Public By the Society of Christian Independents, Congregating in Glocester [ sic]." (Boston: Benjamin Edes & Son, 1785.)
4) Titled on wraps "Mr. Dexter's Century Sermon, on the Publick Thanksgiving November 23. 1738." Fully titled "Our Fathers God, the Hope of Posterity. Some serious Thoughts on the Foundation, Rise and Growth Of the Settlements in New England; With a View to the Edification of the Present, and the Instruction, and Admonition of Future Generations. A Discourse Delivered at Dedham, on the Day of Publick Thanksgiving, Nov. 23. 1738. Upon the Conclusion of the first Century, since a Church of Christ was Gathered in that Place. By Samuel Dexter, V.D.M." (Boston: S. Kneeland and T. Green, 1738.) Some pages with decorative initials and borders. Inscribed on cover "Rebecca Dexter Her Book. The Gift of her Father ...".

Condition: Collations not verified. Possibly lacking original wraps or bindings. Some exhibit ink markings, soiling, toning or foxing. Some creasing of pages. Generally well preserved.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to provide shipping quotes until the invoice had been paid in full.
In house shipping is offered exclusively though UPS. All items are shipped with UPS insurance (max. $50,000). UPS insurance is billed at $2.70 for the first $100 and at $0.90 per hundred afterwards. Eldred's charges a minium $15 handling fee per package plus actual UPS shipping charges.
COLLECTION OF PURCHASES: Delivery or shipping arrangements must be made within seven (7) days from the close of the auction for all purchases. All items must be removed from Eldred's facilities within fourteen (14) days of the end of the auction. All items remaining after fourteen days may be subject to a $5/per item/per day storage fee. No items will be released unless storage fees are paid in full. Items remaining over thirty (30) days from the close of the auction may be sold for the buyer's account minus auction and storage fees.
