Pastoral scene. Signed lower right "Isaac A. Josephi".
Primarily known for his miniatures, this pastel has been done in the Barbizon Style and is similar to some of the works by George Innes. This style evokes the expression of naturalistic tendencies in changing landscapes. Barbizon artists are the precursors to the "plein air painters".

The artist exhibited at the Art Institute in Chicago, the National Academy of Design and the Paris Expo of 1900. He was one of the founders of the American Society of Miniature Painters and studied at the Arts Students League in New York City.

There are examples of his miniatures in the Metropolitan Museum of Art and was shown at the Spanierman Gallery in New York City.
