Underside with impressed "Madoura Plein Feu" and "Edition Picasso" marks and numbered 30/100. This piece is referenced as number 140 in Alain Ramie's "Picasso: Catalogue of the Edited Ceramic works". Ramie notes this is an unmarked edition of 500. The markings, quality, and decoration of this piece are all consistent with other examples, however we can not explain the edition number of "16/100". The object comes from a prominent Boston area estate, featuring fine porcelain, rare books, 20th Century Russian art and an important Henry Moore bronze.
