From the workshop of John Townsend (Newport, Rhode Island, 1733–1809). In mahogany with poplar and chestnut secondary woods. Top with demilune drop leaves and concave molding and string inlay along edge. Single drawer at one end of apron retains original brass bail handle. Legs with book, icicle and string inlay, and banded satin cuff inlay at bottom. Height 28.25". Width 18.75" plus two 10.25" drop leaves. Depth 32".

Condition: Several veneer patches to drawer front. Minor repairs to one hinge on each leaf.
