TIFFANY & CO. STERLING SILVER GOLF TROPHY

Three-handled tyg with trumpeting foot and repoussé grape vine design. Oval panels engraved "Won by George A. Tuttle 1911, Edward L. Pruyn 1912, Edward L. Pruyn 1913, Edward L. Pruyn 1914" and "Golf Trophy Presented by Edwin Gould for low score of the year made in any competition of the Jekyl[sic] Island Golf Club to become the property of the player winning three times". According to his 1950 New York Times obituary, Edward Lansing Pruyn was a high-ranking amateur golfer before World War I, and he would later become a noted golf course architect.
