The Albatross was purchased in 1891 by brothers John and Louis Hohorst, both residents of Brooklyn, New York, and neighbors of Mary E. Yorke.
Mary E. Yorke was the widow of artist William G. Yorke, with whom she collaborated over the years. She lived across the street from the Hohorsts, who worked on Van Brunt Street in Brooklyn
