William Pierce Stubbs, 1842-1909 The three masted schooner "William O.Snow". Oil on canvas. Signed lower left, "Stubbs". 26" x 42 «". This schooner was built in Bath, Maine, in 1881 by Goss & Sawyer. Weight 560 tons. Length 152.9 feet. Owned by George H. Rhodes. Registered in Taunton, in 1896. A Capt. Mchaffey in that year, probably Thomas Mchaffey of Rowley, Mass., or Joseph Mchaffey of Quincy Point. W.B. Crosby was master in 1888. A Capt. Handy in 1885. [Illustrated].
